I am delighted to be able to announce some new and exciting opportunities for growth, learning and support for parents, caregivers, family members and the community that we have developed following feedback from the members of Walking in My Shoes and other community members.
The parenting landscape has changed over the years, partly due to access to information electronically (even online support groups!). This is wonderful for families, as parents are busier than ever, however it makes going to a group at the end of a busy day challenging. As a response to this, we are updating the delivery to parent support and learning to meet the needs of busy families.
Starting September 2020, we will be offering an Educational Series, ABLE2 Grow, to build knowledge and skills for anyone who supports an individual of any age, who is living with a disability. The workshop sessions will be offered regularly, at a minimum monthly, be approximately 1.5 hours in length and be offered at a reasonable cost. These changes will ensure the program is a viable, high quality and valued-added source of rich information to enhance the lives of your loved one(s).
We will no longer have members and will not be sending out regular emails as we did for Walking in My Shoes (WIMS). Instead, you can join ABLE2’s Facebook page or check out ABLE2’s website. It is our hope this is a convenient efficient means for you to have access to all you need for parenting or caring for an individual living with a disability, at any age.
This summer look for information that will outline all the workshop topics and presenters for the year
